Magazine Proposal

  • Name: Youtube Sensations
  • Cover: The cover mainly portrays the youtubers from the most subscribe channel "Smosh," and includes a small portrait of the popular youtuber Nigahiga (Ryan Higa). I used black and white for Smosh's picture because I wanted the Youtube logo and the Smosh logo to capture the attention of readers. I left the color in Ryan's picture so that he would stand out against Smosh's picture.
  • Concept: This magazine discusses users/channels and videos that are popular on youtube. It has articles about viral videos, new memes, and warnings about "challenges" that are gaining popularity on Youtube (such as the cinnamon challenge). It also reports the current data for channels with the most subscribers and videos with the most views.
  • Readers: Mostly teens and young adults who use Youtube more frequently than other age groups.
  • Competition: There are magazines, such as J-14 and Twist, that are produced for the younger generation, but none elaborate on youtube "celebrities."
  • Advertisers: Google, Various Smartphone Apps, Various Smartphone Companies (Samsung, LG), Cell phone providers (Verizon, T-mobile), Computer companies (Dell, HP)
  • Articles:
-Youtube: Then and Now
-Youtube's Popular Ladies
-Smosh: Their Rise to Number One
-A Review of Psy's "Gentleman" Music Video
-Nigahiga Warns "Don't Try This At Home"
  • Price: $3.99 - $4.99 - The magazine is affordable for readers.
